The Pitilie Burn is also known for its alluvial deposits of Scottish gold. Sold for €15,860 (Estimate: €15,000-20,000).
Diego Lanza, Bonhams Senior Whisky Specialist, said: “The Bowmore-35 year old 1964 was very rare and special so it was not surprising that it became the most sought-after bottle of the day. Collectors were also eager to snap up the chance to acquire a bottle of Aberfeldy the Gold of Pitilie-28 year old-1985 which is very rarely available at auction.”
